What is an ottb horse?

An OTTB (Off-the-Track Thoroughbred) is a horse that has been retired from racing or failed to make it as a racehorse. They are known for their athleticism, stamina, and versatility. OTTBs are often intelligent and quick learners with a desire to work, making them popular for many equestrian disciplines such as eventing, jumping, dressage, and pleasure riding.

Due to their breeding and training for racing, some OTTBs may have quirks or challenges that need to be addressed, such as being sensitive or anxious. They may also need time to adjust to a new lifestyle and learn new skills. However, with proper training and attention, OTTBs can make excellent and rewarding partners for their owners. Adopting an OTTB also provides a second career and a new chance for these horses outside of the racing industry.
